COMMUNITY CARE - REMEDIAL CLASSES

It is not uncommom to come across children who are comparatively poor in studies. In the previous academic year remedial classes fo an hour and a half duration were held twice a week, either before or after the regular school hours. Selection for these classes posed a problem.

The supplementary education was meant for children with poor school performance, but there were pressure from all most parents to include all the children. So it was decided to have a written test in Hindi and Maths, and an oral test in English. Approximately 20 with the lowest marks in the test were accepted for the supplementary classes from each class.

It focussed not just on academics, but also on extracurricular activities like sports, personality development, health topic etc. By the end of the year, the parents notices and all round improvement in the performance of their children.

This prompted a request from the parents this year for the continuation and extension of these remedial classes. Navjeet also wished to improve the qualityof the education being imparted to the children. The Suplementary classes are now held daily, with saturday reserved for extra-curricular activities.

The Childrens are provided with biscuits kindly donated by Soroptimist International.
